Norma L Emerich's Obituary
Norma Lee Emerich, 94, of Spring Valley passed away peacefully, August 31, 2022 at her home in Spring Valley, California after a brief illness. She was born February 19, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska to Luther and Sadie Hutton. Norma, was an eighty-five year resident of San Diego County, since leaving her families childhood home on a farm near Nebraska City, NE at the age of nine. She graduated from San Diego High School in 1945 and was an administrative assistant at San Diego State University for twenty years.
She married Terrill Emerich on August 19, 1985 and they made their home and many memories in Spring Valley.
She loved to sew, do crafts of all kinds, cook but her pride was her family and she really enjoyed family get togethers. She was active in the community crocheting “chemo-caps” for those suffering from Cancer. She made many blankets, booties and caps for the new born units at local hospitals. She also really loved to shop.
Norma is survived by her husband Terry, her sister, Erma Budvarson, of Escondido; her daughter, Bonnie Welch of La Mesa; Barbara Smythe (David) of El Cajon; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Pleasants, son-in-law, John Michael Welch, grandsons, Matthew and Mark Welch, David Mendoza, and great-grandchildren Justice and Tishia Parker.
A viewing and visitation will be held at the Salli Lynn Chapel from 10:00-11:00am at Greenwood Memorial Park on Monday, September 19, 2022. The Celebration of Life Service will follow immediately at 11:00am in the Chapel concluding with a Committal Service and flower tribute at the grave site. The Reverend Rick Rojas will be officiating.
