Norma "Becky" Godines' Obituary
“Becky” was born Norma Rebecca Godines on June 10, 1944 to parents Juan and Soledad Barajas in San Diego. She grew up with her brother John and her sisters Yolanda and Marie.Becky loved going to dances with her sisters and friends when she was younger, which is where her love for music and dancing began.In 1972, Becky had her first and only child, Gabriel.She loved music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and loved her mariachi music. She listened to it daily, and frequently had her eight track or record player playing Little Joe y La Familia or Vicente Fernandez.As her son grew older, she started a career in the pharmacy field. She went on to work for many companies like Gemco, FedMart, and Kaiser. She took great pride in everything she did.In 1994 Becky welcomed her first grandchild, Yazmin, and was quickly dubbed “Grandma Flash” because of all the pictures she took of her newest pride and joy. Later she would welcome 3 more grandchildren, Julian, Zoe and Zeleah.All who met Becky her loved her. She was never the type to end the conversation. She loved chitchatting with everybody she ran across. It was even hard to get her off the phone. She loved talking with people.Her hobbies consisted of word searches, reading and watching football. However, her favorite past time was heading to Sycuan, and spending a few hours among the lights and sounds of the casino.On November 1, 2019 Becky let go after a short battle with cancer. She is now forever basking in the light of the eternal Son. God only takes the best. Her battle is now over, and she is at peace.
