Nana was a person whom i really admired for her strength, her beauty, and her ability to be the head of this beautiful family. she truly is an iconic figure, i remember being at kristen and michael's house, and not understanding a word she was saying, but she continued to speak and help me figure out what she was trying to communicate even though the language barrier separated us. if you would take a picture of nana like the one in this book of her younger years and put it next to nellie, my mom, and I you can see how strong her genes are even through trickling down the line. i loved her, and i will miss her very much. – Jade

August 16, 2010Dear sister Patty and Mike,Now that our beloved mother has been transposed from her Worldly life to Eternal life?Now that the Ceremony is concluded and we?ve all returned to our quiet homes to ponder and reflect on her majestic life, our life with her, as her son and daughters?I can not thank you Patty, Mike, Michael Jr., Kristen, Danielle and Meghan enough to express my gratitude and appreciation for making your loving and caring home a permanent place, where our beloved mother, proudly pronounced it as her ?mi casa?!Patty, your caring affection, undivided attention and restless vigilance over her fragile existence over the past 26 years provided much needed security, comfort, continuity, permanence, and yes, peace of mind, most of all to our mother, but also to the rest of us that have been longing to be with her endearing presence?but, only from a distance?Patty, by your kind, humane and Nobel gesture to have become the ?Keeper and Protector? of our family?s ?Crown Jewel?, you have for ever set the highest standards for all sons and daughters, everywhere, to look upon and to emulate?For what you Patty and Mike have done is the nobelest of human deeds?You?ve cared for and honored our mother, as son of God, Jesus loved and honored his mother? Elena, y mis hermanos Jose Luis y Laura,….ya descansa en paz junto a mi tio y nuestros abuelitos y algun dia nos reuniremos con ellos.De parte de todos nosotros y muy especialmente de mi papa quiero expresarles el profundo dolor que nos embarga el ya no tener a su querida hermana y tia, pero ante todo el hermoso recuerdo que queda de ella como una mujer alegre y ejemplar que junto con mi tio formo una hermosa familia que la tiene presente en cada detalle de sus vidas y que la recordara por el gran amor y ejemplo que les dio.

Nana, you left a legacy impossible to match. With out fancy words, "bible study", or society's labels, your actions told every one exactly what you stood for, and where your values came from. I miss you, my little "bolita de amor", and will never forget you or your legacy. __________G. Franco

Nana was more that just a grandmother, she was our second mom. For nana, family was her life. No one could ever tear her away for even a moment from her motherly insticts, she was constantly running around caring and loving everyone. There is not near enough time to express all the lasting memories and characteristics of nana that will remain with me forever, but a couple of the ones that stick out the most are that I never needed a best friend growing up as a young child because nana was just that for me, she was all I needed to bring me joy and laughter, to comfort me when I was down, to play with me when I was lonely or to just listen to me when I wanted to be heard, she was my other half. I will never forget nana's contagious laughter and comedic personality, nana could lift anyone's spirits. Nana you will always hold a spot nearest to my heart and I thank you for helping to mold me into the woman I am today. I love you always and forever._________Kristen
