Our dear Oneeta was not just “the lady I grocery shop for”. Our “perfect match” started by volunteering with ElderHelp 12 years ago, March 2009! But our personalities, endearment for one another & friendship kept us growing & laughing together. My husband (Angel) & I took her to movies and brought her to family gatherings where she tried using some Spanish. She was insightful about human behavior, history, the present and her own process, always with a big knack for storytelling like no other. She had a healthy balance of kindness & stubbornness. A trailblazer in her times. The 3 of us even got stuck in the elevator together after going to Pride Parade, eek! She wasn’t worried though, prepared as always with all her medications & backup oxygen!
Thank you Oneeta for sharing your life with us. I’ll think of you at the grocery store passing all your usual items from potato bread, canned peaches, Roma tomatoes, avocados, cut watermelon, purple grapes, bologna, orange soda and everything else. And Golden Donut your glazed donuts!! It won’t be the same. Will miss you!

"Oneeta, a beautiful lady with a beautiful spirit and a beautiful soul, she will be dearly missed. I was blessed to meet Ms. Oneeta at her home in San Diego back in the 1980's. My friend Via Lorretta invited me to join her when she made a visit as Oneeta was preparing to move out of the country. Oneeta was giddy with excitement as she shared spectacular photographs from a brochure of the island of Bermuda. She was transferring there to work the US Boarder Patrol. Sometime later it was my good fortune to become a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines and I frequently visited her at her island home over looking the ocean. It didn't matter how short of notice I gave her, she would welcome me with open arms! I met her new island friends and we'd go to both the tourist's and local's hangout spots. We became family. I love her and will miss her presence, but I'm comforted in knowing she has received her wings. Blessings to all."- Tanya Britt

Aunt Neeta...my Virgo double. Oh how I’m going to miss you. Miss our conversations about books we just finished in our 2 person book club. My love for books started with you and I thank you for that. I don’t have a time in my life where you weren’t in it whether near or far. You will forever live in my entire spirit because you taught me some hard but necessary lessons. Lessons taught with all seriousness but ending with your one of a kind laugh. I can still hear your laugh and it brings a smile to my heart. Oh and you also taught me how to Parrrrttttaaaayyyy!
Deep down I wish you were still here with us and teasing me about how I have my hands full with Karis because of her greatness. When I didn’t believe in myself all you had to say was “Stop it” and I would do just that. I absolutely love you forever and always -Pam Pam!

Our Dear God Mother/ Aunt Neeta you have been apart of our lives since early childhood. Ages 2, 3, 6, & 9. Preston, Loretta Aka Via, Mervin & Cathy. We were blessed to have you as our family, you loving us, guiding us and celebrating us. You took me to dance class, you have always encouraged me to follow dreams as an Artist. You were there for all of my life celebrations, graduations, Debutante Ball, Wedding, Birth of my son and all of the important life events. You had the best laugh, you loved music, classic movies, award shows, a good book and a good conversation even if it was a spirited one. You will forever have a place in my heart. I am so thankful we accident.y FaceTimed each other several times over the past few weeks. I now know that it was no accident Thank you Lord! So glad the we spoke before your surgery you were in good spirits even then Thank you Lord! I’m glad that we always ended our calls with I Love You. Oneeta, I will truly miss you. You are an Angel watching over our MET group now. One of my best memories of Oneeta is whenever I would complain about my job, (or anything), she would always say, "it's better than digging holes." She always knew how to put things into perspective. I know she is dancing, singing, and listening to perfect music now. Love you Oneeta. See you on the other side.

Oneeta. What can I say. When I was new to DHS, she always had my back. Sticking up for me whenever she felt, and rightfully so , that something was happening to me was inappropriate. I came to know and love her. Over the years I have always remembered her as a positive and loving person. Always a joy to be around. I wish I could have seen her more over the past few years. I will miss her and always think of her fondly. May her memory be eternal. Smile.❤️

Oneeta was always great for a story and a laugh. I’ll always remember her for her positivity no matter how difficult life got. I’ll miss her smiles and laughter the most. She’s a part of a great group of girlfriends known as the MET Girls or Hungry Heifers, which are more like a second family. Thank you for being my friend and soul sister. I love you Oneeta.

I met Oneeta when I returned from the academy and was stationed at the border. Oneeta was my training officer and friend. We reconnected when she transferred to Long Beach and she became part of our tribe. We had great times together and enjoyed each other company.
Rest well, you are missed.
