Oscar Lee Allen's Obituary
Chronicles of LifeOscar Lee Allen, the son of the late Mr. Stephen Frone Allen and Mrs. Ethelene Jackson Allen, was born on May 27, 1932 in Greenwood, Louisiana. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. • At the age of sixteen, the Allen family relocated to San Diego, California where he attended Memorial Junior High School. At an early age, he met and married Vera Maxine Earl. Their union was blessed with seven beautiful children: Oscar, Jr., and George who preceded him in death, Sandra, Eugene, Steve, Karen and Tracy. Oscar was a loving father; with much love he adopted Stephen, who became a part of the Allen family. • Oscar united with Greater Life Baptist Church in 1988 under Reverend Willie E. Manley, where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Senior Choir. After attending for many years, he relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas and united with Greater Center Star Baptist Church and served as a deacon under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Trailer. Oscar was very active in the community: he devoted his time to South Crest Little League in San Diego for 35 years. He made a big difference in the lives of many youth by coaching them in being a team player in baseball, as well as in life. He participated on the board of Jackie Robinson YMCA, and also coached a women’s softball team at the YMCA and many other organizations. Oscar was a master mechanic by trade but was employed at San Diego Trust & Savings Bank for 42 years as the Vice President of Building Engineer. He also participated on the Black Bankers Board. Once retired, he studied and became a locksmith for Baldwin Corporation and was self employed. Also known as the Big O, he had a smile that could light up a room. He touched many lives here in San Diego, as well as in Little Rock. • His sisters, Johnnie B. Norman and Gracie Lee Allen Walker Parker, preceded him in death. On Sunday, January 18, 2015, Oscar Lee went home to his Heavenly Father. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Eunice Jones Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas; six loving children, Eugene Jerome Allen and Stephen Forrest Allen of San Diego, California, Steve Edwardo Allen (wife Veronica) of Winchester, California, Tracy Lee Earl Allen (wife Lori) of Houston, Texas, Sandra Marie Allen, and Karen Geynelle Allen Morris of San Diego, California; daughter-in-law, Jane Ceal Allen of Eugene, Oregon; grandsons, Steven Edward Allen and Brian Douglas Morris II of San Diego, California, Micah Earl Allen, Major US Army, of Sumter, South Carolina, Augustus Summer Allen of San Fernando, California, Loren Christen Lamar Hall of Bakersfield, California, and Miles Allen of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Marsharika Rebecca Allen of Singapore, Talithe Pearl Allen of Portland, Oregon, Jasmine Lynn Doyle-Allen of Santa Clarita, California, Alysha Allen of San Antonio, Texas, Khambra Allen of Houston, Texas, and Maria Adriana Allen of Winchester, California; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Allen and Henry Allen of San Diego, California; six sisters, Barbara Carter, Betty Baldswin, Jenell Wesley, Susan Allen and Ethel Larkins of San Diego, California and Estella Allen Payne of Chino Hills, California; and extended family, Pamela Madison and her daughter Jordyn Aiken of San Diego, California. Oscar Lee leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life.
