Parlan Lawrence Edwards' Obituary
Dr. Parlan L. Edwards, born on May 26, 1929, passed away peacefully and quietly on July 3, 2018 surrounded by those who profoundly loved him. Dr. Parlan L. Edwards, affectionately known as “Doc” was as good as they come. “Doc” impacted everyone’s lives with loving kindness and generosity. Sometimes referred to as “Smiley” due to his infectious and loving smile (some of you may remember his “click-click”), Doc lived his life with zest and enthusiasm always eager to learn something new. . . always eager to share that enthusiasm with everyone he came in contact with. Don’t be surprised if you were called to watch a program on Book TV or share in one of his latest findings on Great Courses. Never judgmental or critical, only supportive.Doc has the biggest heart in the world. Doc’s integrity, compassion, wisdom, empathy, and, of course, his one-of-a-kind sense of humor were marks of this wonderful man. It was always a treat to hang out with Doc. Doc was a friend to all.Doc was originally from North Carolina but settled in San Diego with his beautiful young bride, Gloria, in the 50’s after serving his country in the military. He was always proud of his stint as a milk delivery man for Carnation Company in the Los Angeles area while he went to school at night.Doc attended Los Angeles Chiropractic College in Glendale and in 1955 began his practice in San Diego where he worked until age 87. Doc served in various professional organizations as a chiropractor and was a member of the Elks, American Legion, San Diego California Chiropractic Association and was president of the Chiropractic Information Bureau in San Diego.His memory and impact will forever live in the hearts of his dearest friends.Visitation on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
