Pastora Asbill's Obituary
Pastora Asbill entered this world on October 19,1934, as a blessing to her mother Wilhelmina Heath in Panama City, Panama. Pastora confessed Christ as her Savior at a young age. She was the youngest of eight children. She completed elementary and high school in Panama where she played on the volleyball team. After high school Pastora became a seamstress, this would earn her an income and keep her in the latest fashions, she enjoyed making not only her own clothing but her children’s as well. She later moved to San Diego, Calif. where she found employment in childcare. In 1962 she met and married Edward T. Asbill and became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Pastora found employment in downtown San Diego as a seamstress she would later attend night school and later on South Western College where she studied to be a Home Health Aid at night. Pastora went on to retire from Kaiser Permanente, after 24 years of employment. In 1992 she joined Bayview Baptist Church she was an active member she could be seen handing out food on Thursdays, Singing in the choir, working in the culinary Ministry and an active member Silver Strand. She loved her church family, studying her bible and most of all singing in the choir.Although she only had five children of her own she raised six including a nephew. She stressed education in all her children and grandchildren. Affectionately called” Granny”, she touched the lives of many people seeking advice, or just to eat one of her many delicious meals. She had many pass times her favorite at one time was fishing; she also liked playing softball and dominoes at picnics. She later would join the bowling league at Lomita Village and bowled till her health prevented her from bowling. She met many people touched many lives she had close friends that she knew for sixty plus years and spoke to up until her passing.Pastora Asbill was called to rest on November 7, 2018 while surrounded by friends and family. Pastora was preceded in death by her mother, brothers Winston, Gladston, Clevland, Fredrick, and Alfredo, Sisters, Violet and Gladys; She leaves to cherish her passing five children. Mateo Logan Jr. (Dauphine), Monica Asbill, Beverly Asbill-Gumbs, Edward D. Asbill, Amaris Asbill, six grand daughters Mattea Williams, Alisa Gumbs, Briana Gumbs, Anissa Asbill, Vanessa Asbill, Asia Duncan.
