It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paula Arechiga Dueñas, who departed from this world on November 8, 2023. A beloved mother to Angel and Gloria Eva, a grandmother, godmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Paula's extraordinary journey of 97 years was a testament to her resilience, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family.
Paula was born in 1926 in the small pueblo of Pánico, Mexico. Daughter to Victor and Maria Romana Aréchiga, her youth was marked by hard work, as she faced life’s challenges with an unyielding spirit and purposeful resolve. In pursuit of a better life, Paula and her family left Mexico and moved to the charming division of San Diego, Little Italy. The land of opportunity allowed her family to thrive, sowing seeds that would establish her family and the many generations that followed.
Paula's legacy is etched in the hearts of her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, a doting grandmother to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a trusted friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her wisdom, kindness, and selflessness were evident in every interaction, uniting with others and imparting valuable life lessons. She had a passion for storytelling and would often share tales of her remarkable life, bridging generations through her narratives.
As we mourn the loss of Paula Aréchiga Dueñas, we also celebrate her extensive and meaningful life. A viewing will be held on November 20, 2023, at Sally Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park beginning at 10:00 AM. Religious services will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will commence after the service at the Mausoleum. We invite family and friends to join us in saying our final goodbyes and paying tribute to this exceptional woman.
Paula Aréchiga Dueñas will be dearly missed, but her memory and spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in eternal peace.
