Pearl Dixon's Obituary
Pearl Jeanette Davis-Dixon, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully on Monday May 13th, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 21, 1952, and spent her life spreading love, joy, and kindness to all who knew her. Pearl was known for her warm, wide smile and a heart of gold. She was a gentle soul who loved to help others, especially her son, granddaughter, four sisters, and five brothers. There were many times in her life when she opened her home to friends and family. Through her humble heart, she often made the personal sacrifices needed to help others. She was that way because she strongly believed in doing the right thing. Pearl's heavenly residence will include her older son, Benjamin Paul Dixon, her father Lutrell Lopez Davis, mother Lurene Kemp-Davis, sisters Lourdes DeLeon Davis-Tilles, and Zadie Burnett Davis-Banks, brothers Lutrell Davis Jr. and Sherwood Floyd Davis. Pearl's pride and joy were her son John (John-John) Earl Dixon, and his daughter Olivia Jeanette Dixon. The pain that never left her heart was the early death of her older son Benjamin Paul. Through John and Olivia, Pearl knew she would leave behind a legacy of love, kindness, and caring. Pearl's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving siblings, Debra Denise Davis- Reynolds (San Diego,) Beal Wayne Davis (Los Angeles,) Bernadine Davis (San Diego,) Benjamin Alexander Davis (Bel Air, MD.,) and Paul Fitzgerald Davis (San Jose.) She has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends who love her and will miss her dearly. Pearl touched many lives through her giving and caring character. As a teenager, she volunteered as a candy-striper nurse's assistant at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Her job was to assist and cheer up patients. As an adult, Pearl organized breast cancer walks for the "Revlon Run/Walk for Women," in the memory of her sister Lourdes. For nearly two generations Pearl worked for Delta Airlines. At Delta, she was known for strictly following the rules, while also being very compassionate. For that reason, she was selected to be on Delta's "Go Team," which was dispatched to the sites of any Delta Airline plane crashes to assist victims. Pearl's love, humble heart, and beautiful smile will be forever cherished by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
