PawPaw, as we affectionately called him, was the best grandfather anyone could have. He took pride in his family, the family home and himself.
Though he was not a big spender, he made sure everyone had what they needed. I remember being in the 6th grade and I needed a pair of shoes. I wanted a pair of Nikes (the cool ones) but he talked me into a better pair that had more support for my feet. He also never let ANYONE leave his house with low air in their tires or low motor oil.
In short, he set the bar for what a man should be. Strong and proud but not boastful. Loving and supportive and encouraging, all ring true as top characteristics that Pharisee Brooks Jr exhibited.
His warm smile, words of wisdom and granddad jokes will be missed.
Love from Atlanta,
