Phillip Vincent Davis' Obituary
Phillip Vincent Davis, 41, passed away on February 8, 2019 in Coronado, CA of cardiac arrest after a struggle with liver and kidney failure. He was born on February 18, 1977 in Indio, CA to Gary V. Davis and Deborah G. Gollmer. He was the second of six children. Phil spent his early years in El Centro and San Diego, CA. He moved with his family to Roseville, CA in 1992. He graduated from Roseville High School in 1995. He participated in baseball and was a member of the Roseville High School Swim Team. His enjoyment of the water inspired him to become SCUBA certified. He graduated from San Diego State University in 2003 with a BS degree in Marine Biology. After graduating he pursued his dream of working in the field of marine science and the preservation of species in northern California. Later he used his science background as a successful pharmaceutical sales representative. He returned to San Diego several years ago and worked in management for two San Diego companies. Phil liked music, dancing and golf. He enjoyed cooking for others and was considered by many as the “king of the grill.” He loved the outdoors and the beauty of the earth. He was extremely fond of his cats and volunteered at Friends of Cats. Above all, he had a big, pure heart with plenty of room for everyone. He had little interest in material things. He thrived on helping others improve their lives. He was always willing to assist others in finding jobs, introducing them to others they could connect with, or providing a listening ear and words of encouragement. Many considered him their ‘big brother.’ His door was always open, and people felt safe with him and believed him when he encouraged them. One element of his character that always made his family proud was that he loved and respected everyone regardless of who they were. Those fortunate enough to know Phil knew how much he cared for them and how loyal he was to them. Being loved by him was a gift. Phil is survived by his parents, Gary and Deborah, and four siblings, Jennifer (Robert), Laura, Derrick and Trevor, and his maternal grandfather, E. James Gollmer. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, a niece, Grace Laila and nephews, Alexander and Zachary Ellsworth, and many cousins. Phil was fortunate to have a wonderful girlfriend, Kiran, and considered her parents, Gill and Marilyn, family. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, David, his paternal grandparents, Ray and Betty Davis, and his maternal grandmother, June Gollmer. Phil’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 15, 2019 in the Salli Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park at the same address.
