Ramon Cancio was 87 years old and lived in San Diego, California, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 30, 2023 at 12:15am. Ramon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, and he loved the game of baseball as he displayed it during his youth. Although Ramon’s education only reached 2nd grade in elementary school, that didn’t stop him from accomplishing his dream of coming and working in the United States. At a very young age he worked as a farm worker picking cotton, watermelons and everything that was grown on the farm they lived on and with the rest of his family. Ramon worked during the 50’s and 60’s as a bracero in the Imperial Valley, CA., Salinas, California or anywhere there was work for many years as a crew lead of farm workers working long hours and being away from home. In 1968 Ramon migrated his whole family to San Diego, California, his idea to move to San Diego was that he wanted a better life for all his children, a life he didn’t have as a child. At a young age he promised himself that when he had children he was going to give them a better life than he had when he was young. Ramon worked as a Carpenter for over thirty years until he officially retired on June 21st of 1998, and stayed in the same house he lived and bought since 1968. Ramon was a very strong minded, hard working man, and always providing for his family. One of his good qualities was that he loved helping others in need, if he only had one dollar, he would give it to that person who may have needed it more than him. Ramon had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, a man of many stories. As a man of true integrity, he would never budge under any circumstances, regardless if anyone understood what his words meant. A man with a simple life, his main focus was on providing for his children with the best life possible without worrying about himself. He was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who he loved dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left a huge void in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by daughters, Febe, Maricela and Blanca; sons Jorge and Rodolfo; grandchildren; Joelito, Dominique, Emilio, Andrea, Vanessa, Aaron and Alexa; great-great children Jazelle, Jimena, Giovanny, Christian, Kairo and Gianna, sister Adela and other family members. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever ingrained in all those who knew him.
