Ramon G. Vazquez's Obituary
Ramon G. Vazquez was born July 14, 1932 in the city of Santa Maria, state of Durango, Mexico where he lived until 1957. He was the first of 6 children. His parents were Sixto Vazquez and Maria Guerrero (both deceased). After leaving the city of his birth, he lived in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico where he met his beloved wife Carmen (Chacha) Rios. They married in 1963 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in National City, CA and settled in National City where they had 4 children. He began a career as a mason. His work included the construction of monuments in cities of Mexico, large churches and buildings. He went on to become the foreman of a large apartment city in San Diego where he worked most of his years until he retired in 1998. After retirement he continued to work as a handy man and gardener as retired life did not agree with him. He felt happiest when he was working.He had an unwavering love for his family, a faithful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had character and integrity and sacrificed every day to ensure his children could have a better life than his own. He had a charming sense of humor that would lighten any situation. He had a strong work ethic that today is alive and thriving in his children and grandchildren.The most important events in his life included his marriage to his wife of 55 years, the birth of his 4 children, witnessing the accomplishments of his children and the birth of his 7 grandchildren which he thoroughly enjoyed in the later years of his life.He preferred to be at home with his family. He loved watching professional boxing and Padres baseball on TV. He enjoyed gardening, especially looking at flowers with a magnifying glass to see all the amazing details.His favorite music was norteňa (norther Mexico) music. Songs that told similar stories of his life and adventures as a younger man. He was also very moved by mariachi music – especially when listening to his musician grandchildren who perform in a mariachi.He was an amazing teacher and guide to his family. He showed his children what it looked like to be a faithful and devoted husband, an exceptional provider and family man.
