Raul Juan Gonzalez's Obituary
Raul Juan Gonzalez:
It is with the most profound sadness for our family to announce the passing of Raul Gonzalez. Raul was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and, like a warrior, fought bravely for his life. On July 25, 2024, his battle with cancer ended, and he went home to the Lord. Raul is survived by his parents, Monica and Gonzalo, and his two sisters, Monique and Erica and his brother-in-law Andrew Carroll. Raul had two loving nephews, Levi and Maddox, who adored their Tio and loved any time they spent with him (particularly at his place in Ocean Beach). Although we are heartbroken by his passing, his family finds comfort in Raul resting peacefully in heaven.
Raul was born in San Diego, California, on April 12, 1984, and has always been described as a happy little boy. Those who know him are familiar with his beautiful smile and loving spirit. As a boy, Raul enjoyed playing baseball, football, basketball, and boxing in his teen years. However, Raul’s favorite pastime was camping at Glamis, where he loved to ride his Honda 250R, Kawasaki, and Yamaha motorcycles. He was a skilled rider who looked forward to racing against his cousins up Competition Hill and Old’s Mobile. Raul leaves behind many cousins with beautiful memories of their time with him.
Raul graduated from Grossmont High School in 2002 and enjoyed his time working at Barona Casino before transitioning into the banking industry. Raul was successful, hard-working, humble, generous, and intelligent. In addition to Raul loving his time traveling, camping, and barbequing with his family, he loved living in Ocean Beach. His cottage was just steps from the beach, and he enjoyed the laid-back community with excellent bars and restaurants where he enjoyed cheering on his Padres and Aztecs.
Raul had a unique way of making those that he loved feel loved and appreciated by him. Raul was honest, funny, intelligent, kind, witty, and no matter how brutal his fight with cancer was, he never lost his faith in Jesus. Raul is loved by many and will be missed very much; may he rest in peace.
