He will be lovingly be remembered and cherished by his wife. He will live forever in the hearts of his children who will carry on his traditions, stories, love of history, engineering talents, musical taste, humor, passion and endless supply of knowledge. Their favorite saying was, “Dad/Grandpa would know the answer.” He is survived by his children Nick Brandt (Christina) Samantha Brandt Hoppes (Nate), and Teo Brandt; grandchildren: Jacob, Luke and Mia Brandt-Nguyen and Sydney Brandt-Hoppes. He is survived by his sister Maureen Bayha (Richard) and his three fur children, Coco, Murphy and King. He was greatly respected by his peers and coworkers and was an incredibly talented self-taught artist. His son, Teo and grandson, Jake, inherited his talents. He was an amazing father and grandpa. His greatest accomplishment was to successfully raise his three children to be independent, responsible and happy people. Samantha and Nick are carrying on his legacy by being amazing parents to their children. Ray was a thoughtful, caring and compassionate father and husband, always putting their needs before his own. Ray was a lover of cats and dogs and was the peacemaker in the family.Ray treated his wife Paula like a queen and gave her such comfort, love, humor, joy, caring and friendship during their 20 years together. He was her savior and confidante. She will miss him terribly but, he will never be forgotten. He will live forever in her heart and she will keep his memory alive for his children and grandchildren. In retirement, he avidly pursued his love and passion for ships and boats of all kinds. He joined the San Diego Argonauts where he found great pleasure in running his RC boats and bonding with the other “boat people” at the pond in Mission Bay.Despite having his body fail him in so many ways, his mind was clear, his heart was pure, he was never angry or bitter. He made a lasting and indelible impression on everyone he met and will be missed by friends and family. “Hard work and Luck, never give up, hold on to your dreams, how far can a GED Take someone”Ray Brandt1951-2018 Services and Internment will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Greenwood Memorial Park at 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, California 92113.
