Regina Lafuente Gutierrez's Obituary
Regina Lafuente was born September 7, 1927 in the city of Calasiao, Pangasinan. Rooted from humble beginnings, she lived a vibrant youth in her community- taking pleasure in the small things in life and enjoying the company of close friends and family. A determined young adult, she worked her way to earn a vocational degree. Eventually,her efforts and creativity led her to establish a career as a seamstress.In 1947, a chance encounter brought Regina to meet Alejo Gutierrez. What started as deep adoration turned into years of enduring love. Regina and Alejo committed their life to each other and to raising their seven kids together. After decades of perseverance and untiring life in the Philippines, opportunities arose for a new beginning in the United States. Regina along with Alejo, immigrated to the country with the help of their eldest daughter. Despite the limited resources available to her, she managed to bring two of her sons and daughter to California.Still thousands of miles away, Regina and Alejo persisted to support their remaining daughter and son to the best of their abilities. At the peak of her life, Regina experienced a painful heartbreak from the sudden death of Alejo. Through faith and the unwavering support of family, she continued on.In her latter years, Regina came to be known by her grandkids as “Lola Anit.” She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She cherished every moment she had with them and spent much of her last years in devotion to her family and her catholic faith.Lola Anit lived gently, purposefully and wholeheartedly. She knew how to make the best of what she had and was always grateful for all the blessings in her life. Her favorite colors are pink and yellow. It was evident with every fashionable clothing she wore, those colors made her feel happy and beautiful. While she is no longer with us, she will always be remembered for her infectious and vibrant smile and infinite capacity to love with open arms. Regina is survived by seven children, sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
