Regina Renee McDaniel's Obituary
Regina Renee McDaniel was born in San Diego, California on November 28, 1957 to Harold and Dorothy Steele, she was the third child of seven born to this union. Regina was the oldest girl of the family. She attended Knox elementary, Bell junior high school and Lincoln High school. Regina was very active at Lincoln High. She had many accomplishments. She was Homecoming Queen in 1975 and she was a dedicated cheerleader. She graduated from Lincoln High School in San Diego in 1975. She was very proud of her Alma Mater and continued to support her mascot, the Hornets by attending the football Homecoming games each year. You could always identify her in the crowd by her signature “yelp” that always turned heads. She graduated from San Diego City College in 1977 with an Associates of Arts in General Office.Soon after graduating from San Diego City College, she began her career as a Health Care professional. She worked for Prudential Financial Services as a Supervisor for twenty plus years. When the company merged with Aetna Regina then transitioned to her present job at Scripps Health Care. She worked in healthcare for over thirty years. Regina truly enjoyed her Scripps job and family. She loved the work that she did, and she cherished the relationships she shared with co-workers. As you know Regina loved everyone that she came in contact with. Regina was a kind and caring person.Regina married the love of her life Boris Andreco McDaniel on July 26, 1980 in San Diego CA. To this union two children were born, Boris Andreco McDaniel II and Elijah Demetrius McDaniel. She was preceded in death by Boris, June 22, 1995. They had a marvelous relationship that was full of laughter and joy. Regina deeply loved Boris and he unequivocally loved her.Regina then married Michael H. Moore on August 16, 1997. She was blessed with a step-son, Michael Moore Jr., whom she loved as one of her own, and a grandchild Nevaeh Moore whom she also cherished, more than words can say.In the early 1980’s Regina dedicated her life to the Lord and became a member of Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and showed it by dedicating her time. She regularly attended bible study and church services. Regina also served as the Church Clerk, and Vice President of the Pastor’s Aide as well as being a member of the Adult Choir, Kitchen Committee, and Sanctuary Committee.Regina was a member of the DeBose-Espy-Steele Family Reunion (Armstrong-Brooks-Bynnom-Cole-DeBose-Espy-Palmer-Russell-Steele-Sweatt-Syas) Committee and until her last week she was still taking minutes, and assisting with the coordination for the upcoming 2015 family reunion. The family slogan is “So Good to be One Family” in which Regina Loved her family and wanted her children to understand that to serve is to love.Regina leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family. Her beautiful smile alone was enough to brighten anyone’s day. While battling the metastatic cancer that would ultimately take her life she always had a positive outlook. Her doctors and nurses would routinely comment about how she was a wonderful patient and how strong she was. While looking in the face of death she still put the needs of others above those of her own. She was truly rooted in the spirit and although her earthly body failed her she is now in the presence of the Lord smiling down on all of us.On Thursday February 19, 2015 Regina earned her wings. Heaven truly gained an angel. Even though she is gone Regina will never be forgotten. She is survived by her sons Boris A. McDaniel II, Elijah Demetrius McDaniel, and stepson Michael Moore Jr. all of San Diego, CA. Granddaughter Nevaeh Moore of San Diego, CA. Parents Harold and Dorothy Steele of San Diego, CA. Siblings Harold Steele of Palmdale, CA, Ronald D. Steele (Naomi Steele) of Sun City C A, Karlos K. Steele (Cynthia Steele) Seattle Washington, Alisa A. Harris of San Diego, CA, Troy A. Steele, Marvelle T. Steele all of San Diego, CA, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.God saw you were tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered “Come to me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard work hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.Gone but never forgotten.
