Celebrating the life of DELA CRUZ / REMEDIOS SORIANO Remedios (Meding) Dela Cruz, age 99, of National City, Ca passed away in her home at National City on December 30, 2017.Remedios was born on November 22, 1918 in Cavite, Philippines where she lived until 1996. She was the 1st of the 6th children. Her parents were Pedro and Felipa Soriano. She was married to her husband, Juan Jimenez Dela Cruz in January 1943 in the Philippines. The couple settled in Bacoor, Cavite Philippines in the early 1940’s, where they raised four (4) children: Julieta, Teresita, Michael and Lilibette.Remedios spent more than 77 years in the Philippines before migrating to San Diego, California 21 years ago to be with her youngest daughter, the late Lilibette Mangosing. She was a member of the local town Catholic church in the Philippines. She was an active member of Chosen Vessel Christian Family for the past 17 years until she rested in peace. She spent most of her years going to church, attending bible study and other religious activities.Remedios was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. NANAY (which means Mom in the Philippines) as she was called by everybody would spend hours cooking and preparing foods. Among her favorites were paksiw na pata, chicharon and coke. There’s always special foods for her apo’s (grandkids). . She was very generous and would always make sure she can give money to her love ones. She loves to go shopping, buy red roses and listen to Kundiman songs. Kundiman is a genre of traditional Filipino love songs. It was the traditional means of serenade in the Philippines.Remedios was the beloved wife of the late Juan J. Dela Cruz, devoted mother of Julieta Dela Cruz, Teresita & her husband Danilo Ilano, the late Michael Dela Cruz and the late Lilibette Dela Cruz & her husband Jaime Mangosing, Jr. The loving “Nanay ” of Rochelle & Brian Goodman, Irish Kate & Rolly De Los Reyes, Kristine Ann Ilano, Mark Jeffrey Ilano & Dhalia Llanes, Jamieli Nicole Mangosing and Bryan Joseph Mangosing. The sweet great grandmother of Keighley Lorrine De Los Reyes, Kyle Phoenix De Los Reyes and Ivanna Brielle Ilano.Family and friends will celebrate her life at Greenwood Memorial Park – Garden Chapel. 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego CA 92113 on Saturday, January 27 between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. with a Service at 2:00 p.m by Pastor Alex. The cremation took place Thursday January 11th at Greenwood Memorial Park.
