Rene Fuentez's Obituary
Rene Fuentez, 85 of San Diego, passed away Jan. 14, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Winter Haven, TX on May 05, 1935, to Isidro Fuentes and Damacia Lopez. He was their 6th child out of 11.
He joined the United States Navy in 1955 at the age of 20. He served his country proudly for 20 years. He married the love of his life, Sara Villarreal, on Dec. 16, 1961. The two of them traveled the world together visiting many places. Rene did not have children of his own but he loved his nieces and nephews as they were his.
He donated to American Battle Monuments Commission for 40 plus years; donated to the Make a Wish Foundation every month; donated to the San Diego sheriff's department monthly, as well as many more. To say he was a giving man is an understatement. He will be truly missed.
He was survived by his three remaining siblings, Isidro Fuentes, 90, Griselda Balderas, 87 and Sigelfrido Fuentes, 74.
