My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I wanted people to know that I appreciated all that Richard did from his Military service to his State service serving the people of this country and state. I worked together with Richard many years in the CHP and considered a good friend. Richard not only helped the people of California with safer roads for everyone, helping companies to operate safer to helping the very people he worked with day in and day out. Being a civilian in the CHP had it's challenges and Richard was able to meet those challenges, from fighting for better pay and benefits to unfair practices in the workplace to just having someone to talk to for direction and guidance. My life has been enriched knowing Richard and I am glad for the time I knew him and for the memories I have. Mike Reed Proverbs: 22:1 A Good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor than silver and gold.
I worked with Richard at the CHP. I respected him more than anyone I know. I remember seeing him on TV delivering food to the needy during the holidays. He truly was a great man. Paul Dunne
