Richard Alan Herndon's Obituary
Richard Alan Herndon was born in San Diego, California, on June 8, 1952. He was the third son of Robert and Beatrice Herndon. He was always business-minded, earning money as a child by selling oranges from the family orange trees. By his early twenties, he became a Business Enterprise Owner for the State of California. He deeply respected all military branches and was fortunate to have businesses on military bases. He was honored to serve those who risked their lives for our freedom.
Richard worked hard but always made time for his loved ones. He loved hunting, fishing, riding his horse, playing with his dogs, or just sharing good times with his family and friends. A man of many talents, he also enjoyed bowling, cooking, painting, and listening to music. Richard was so proud of his sons, Eric and Brian. He cherished teaching them how to fish and hunt. Later, they worked alongside him at his location. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
In 2018, after 45 years as a Business Enterprise owner, Richard retired. He was excited to return to what he enjoyed the most, fishing and hunting. Unfortunately, this dream ended too soon. On November 8, 2024, Richard passed away. Richard is survived by his wife Sandy, his son Eric, wife, Angela and their children Ashley and Landon, his son Brian, wife Nowell and sons Ithan, Tanner, and Logan, his stepdaughter Christina, stepsons Thomas and Christopher and their families and Richard’s brothers John and Terry and their families and numerous relatives and friends. Richard's parents, Robert and Beatrice Herndon, and his brother Steve, preceded him in death. It is an honor to celebrate the life of Richard Alan Herndon. He may have been small in stature but made a giant impact on the lives of those he touched. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
