Celebrating the Life of Richard Phelps
Richard Adam Phelps, 37 years old, was born on April 29, 1983 in San Diego California. Born to
Betty Joe McClure and Nathaniel Phelps. He departed his life peacefully on June 16, 2020.
Richard was the third child of five raised in a strong binding, energetic, kind-hearted family in
San Diego California. Richard began his education at Palmer Way Elementary School, moving
to Ranger Jr. High School, Rich later graduated from Sweet Water High School Class of 2002.
During the years Richard played Little League Baseball for Kimball Park. Upon entering high
school Richard began playing football and basketball for Sweet Water High. During the later
years of Richard’s childhood, he met someone who he would later call his wife and the mother
of his child. March 2, 2013, a blessing entered Richard’s life his beautiful daughter Aleia Phelps.
Richard and Alecia married on May 22, 2015. For those who were able to witness, it was truly an
amazing moment. Alecia and Aleia were Richard’s pride and joy. They brought so much
happiness to his life. Richard’s life consisted of collecting movies and being a die-hard Raider’s
fan who was ready to debate with anyone who thought differently. He enjoyed the presence of
family, and especially “ Hennessy Fridays” that was a celebration Richard liked to have with the
people closest to him. Richard also enjoyed listening to local musicians from South East San
Diego, R&B, and most of all his favorite artist Tupac! Richard was a man who needed nothing
more than family and friends. Richard’s legacy will continue through his lovely wife Alecia.
His surviving family includes but not definitely limited includes his daughter Aleia Phelps. Three
godchildren; Camerron King, Cayler King, and Cayleb King. His mother; Betty McClure,
Step-Father; Llowel Fleming. Three Sisters Angelette Phelps, Stephanie Adams, and Breanna
Fleming. One brother; Brandon Fleming. Two nephews; Lorenzo Phelps and Raekwon Adams.
One niece Kaydence Greene. His mother in law; Pamela Mcnutt. A father in law; Edward
Brown. Four sisters-in-law; Lakeisha Ewing, Shawna Ewing, Deshaundell Jones. A brother in
law; Jaun Mcnutt. Two nieces in law; Rayanna Campbell and Leilani May. Two nephews in law;
Jeremy Jones Jr. and Lejuan Mayfield Jr.
His legacy will live through the hearts he interacted with, as well as those he never met but
reached.
