Ridgely L. McGhee's Obituary
Ridgely Lincoln McGhee was born in Camden, Arkansas on February 12, 1939. He was the third child of Otis Cecil and Vivian Evelyn McGhee. Ridgely attended Camden Lincoln High School and upon graduation, entered the United States Navy where he proudly served for 22 years. Ridgely retired from the Navy as a Master Chief and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from National University, and worked as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service for 16 years.Ridgely loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a dedicated member of Bayview Baptist Church, where he served as a bible school teacher, a member of the Men’s Ministry and Men’s Chorus, and a Prayer Partner to Pastor Emeritus Timothy J. Winters. Ridgely enjoyed participating in “The Dominoes Social Club” which was more than that, but a brotherhood of men who supported each other and their families. He was an avid fisherman and loved to rise before the sun, to spend peaceful hours on the lake catching catfish and bluegill. Ridgely was also an awesome cook! He baked a perfect peach cobbler, steamed a succulent seafood feast, and made the best BBQ sauce around. Ridgely was preceded in death by his father Otis C. McGhee, his mother Vivian E. McGhee, and his sister Veotis Clemons. Ridgely cared deeply for his family, who loved, admired, and respected him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Arvis Ann McGhee; his son Darius McGhee (Shauna); his daughter Leslie Cunningham (D’Wayne); his daughter Brenda McGhee; his grandson Jaylen Cunningham; three sisters: Marva Cooper of Camden, AR; Rose Ivory of Little Rock, AR; and Annette Lewis (Roscoe) of Dallas, TX; one brother Louis McGhee (Ollie) of Alexandria, LA; two sisters-in-law Zinnette Lamb of Bethesda, MD and Floretta Babbs (Junious) of Little Rock, AR, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a multitude of great friends.
