Rita Mary Torres' Obituary
Rita Mary Torres a Californian and current resident of San Diego passed on Friday April 25, 2025. Rita is 94 years old, born in San Francisco, raised her family in Marin County with her husband Andy. Rita and Andy were married for 66 years. Rita has two children Lydia Torres Mehrer of San Diego and Richard Torres of Novato. Rita loves her grandson Tyler Torres and granddaughter Vanessa Torres, who live in South Dakota. Rita retired as an Elementary School Teachers Aide. Rita and Andy lived in Sacramento, until his passing, then she moved to San Diego to be with Lydia and her son-in-law Mike Mehrer. She was a resident of La Vida Real and enjoyed the acitivies, making friends, and the company of all who are employed at La Vida Real.
Rita supported many sports teams especially those on which Tyler (Baseball) and Vanessa (Basketball) played as kids and in college. She was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved traveling with Lydia and Mike to Hawaii, Florida, and within California. Her big love was playing the slot machines and BINGO.
Rita always offered help and set an example of openly supporting others. Her enthusiam of enjoying her best life even under challenging circumstances was contagious. She found emotional patience and kindness in those close to her and returned exemplary support of unconditional love and strength to all. She loved being a mom and includes her caregivers, med techs, and LVNs at La Vida Real and her Kaiser medical team as her family. Rita has been blessed with the opportunity to share her love and gratitude to her family and loved them like no other.
Rita is a Catholic and requested that family and friends keep her in their prayers.
