Robert Lee Brown's Obituary
Robert Lee Brown, 58, of Beaumont, California succumbed to cancer at San Gorgonio Hospital surrounded by his family on June 1st, 2016.Robert is survived by his wife and best friend Barbara Ann Brown of 16 years; two sons, Robert Delon Brown (wife Angela Lewis-Brown), Shawan Lamar Brown; and his baby girl Tia (Barbara and Roberts Chihuahua); his loving grandchildren, Elijah Me’Khi Brown, ShiAnn Layila Brown, and Aaliyah Ni’Lynn Brown; four sisters Dorthy Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brenda Leach (husband Charles) of Texas, Sandra Veranelli (husband Robert) of Highland, California, and Olivia Hahn (husband Ray) of San Diego; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Robert’s father Joseph Brown, mother Lillie Mae Brown, sisters Barbara Robertson and Evelyn Mitchell, and brothers Joseph Brown, and Luther Mitchell, proceeded Robert in his homecoming.Robert was born August 17th, 1957 in Bextar County, Texas then moved with his family to San Bernardino where he grew up the baby of 9 children. He attended Ramona Alesandro Elementary, Franklin Middle School, and graduated from San Gorgonio High School (San “G”). After graduating, he began a career as a Building Superintend for San Bernardino County School District and later Garland School District of Texas. He retired in 2015 due to his illness, after serving 30 years in this field. He lived in Mesquite, Texas with his wife Barbara Ann for the later years, and then moved to Beaumont, California in February 2016 to be closer to his family.Robert was a member of Temple Baptist Church of San Bernardino, California where he praised and worshiped the Lord. One of his favorite Gospel songs was “Smile” by Kirk Franklin, and Robert sure knew how to smile. Robert loved his sports, the Lakers basketball team, 49ers football team, and most of all fishing brought him the most joy. Robert was an all-star on his high school basketball team, and a drummer for his band in the 70’s. He loved his music, such artists as “The Elements” by Earth Wind and Fire, Sun Burn “I Had a Choice” and many many more, as long as he had “A cold one” in his hand. We will miss but never forget our husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who gave us the opportunity to share his smile, sense of humor, giving and loving life.Robert dedicated his life to the Lord as a child and rededicated his life to the Lord in April 2016. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30)Rest now son your job here is done.
