Robert Elden Cox Jr's Obituary
Robert Elden Cox Jr (Bob) was born on September 2, 1929 in Tampico, Mexico to the union of his parents Robert Elden Cox and Esperanza Martinez Cox. The family later moved to McAllen, Texas. Robert left Texas at the age of 18 and joined the US Navy, where he served 20 years and retired with the rank of Chief Submarine Engineman. Following his retirement he worked the next 18 years in Civil Service for Naval Sea Systems Command.Bob passed peacefully on May 2, 2018 in La Mesa, California surrounded by his Family and loved ones. He enjoyed many pastimes, particularly fishing on his boat the “Ahi Nalu” with his Daughter and Son-In-Law. He also never missed a year of deer hunting with his late son Randy, his Grandson Jesse and Son-In-Law Rick.He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Carla Cox, his oldest daughter Sherry Appelhans, his son Randy Cox and sister’s Mary Alexander and Elizabeth Cox. He will be lovingly remembered by his Daughter Christy Cox-Green, Son-In-Law Rick Green, Grandchildren Jesse Isom, Lacy Nusco, Lonnie Peterson, Cody Green, Christopher Cox and Todd Appelhans, Great-Grandchildrenn Robbie Isom, Collin & Riley Brown, Leeanna Nusco, Jaxon Peterson, Kaden Green and Sister Mary Herrington.Bob was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was a kind, sweet and honest man, who will truly be missed by all.Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 18th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Salli Lynn Chapel followed by Funeral Services Saturday, May 19th at 12:00 pm in the Garden Chapel, both are located in Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego 92113. Naval Military Honors to follow, concluding with interment in Greenwood Memorial Park.Bob’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
