Robert Charles GeorgeMarch 22, 1922 – December 3, 2017 Robert George, 96, of San Diego, died Sunday, at his residence, Vi of La Jolla. Robert was born in Lake Charles, La., to Roy and Viola George. He was a native of Dallas, TX. He was a husband, father, naval aviator, and engineer in the aerospace industry.During WWII, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy Aviator Cadet V-5 program in 1942, and commissioned an Ensign in 1944. He was assigned to Naval Aviation as an instructor for F4F fighter aircraft in Sanford, FL. In May 1945 he married Doris Quattlebaum-Tyner of Sanford. They were married for 58 years.After WWII Robert attend Georgia Tech and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was called back into the Navy for the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1965. From 1966 to 1988 he worked as an Engineering Marketing Manager for Solar Turbines, Northrop-Grumman, and Aerojet, where he retired in 1988.Robert is survived by his daughter, Paula Bonner of San Diego, 3 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.MemorialService: Tuesday, December 12 at 12:00pm, Greenwood Memorial ParkInterment: Dallas, Texas
