Obituary of Robert Earl James“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1 Robert “Robbie” Earl James, a native of San Diego and resident of Lovettsville, Virginia departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his residence.Robert was born in the city of Pusan, South Korea on November 10, 1964; he was adopted into the union of Louis James Jr. and Miyoko Iwao James in July 1966. Though adopter, Robert never knew he was because he was always loved, respected and treated as our very own biological son. Miyoko, his Mother, preceded him in death. Mom loved and was very proud of our son Robert.Robbie fell in love with cars at a very young age. For his fourth birthday; one of the presents he received was this big yellow and black Tonka-toy sports car, he would play in that car all day every day; never ready to come inside. Throughout his short life on this earth, cars remained his favorite lifelong hobby. The James Family transferred from South Korea, to San Diego in August of 1969.Robert grew up in San Diego; he graduated from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley and also went to San Diego City College for 2 years before joining the US Navy in March of 1985. Robert retired from the Navy in March 2005, after 20 years of personal dedication, professional achievements, significant contributions and services to the United States Navy and his country, the United States of America.During his twenty year naval career Robert received the following Decorations and Medals: Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2); Meritorious Unit Commendation (2); Navy Good Conduct Medal (5); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Recruiting Gold Wreath (6); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon; Navy “E” Ribbon; Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Breast Insignia and numerous Letters of Commendation.After retiring Robert worked for Tolin Maintenance and Engineering Services, as a Building Engineer in Norfolk Virginia. Robert was employed there for 4 years before moving to Portland, Maine. There Robert worked at Target for 4 more years before being transferred to a Target in Leesburg, Virgina which was his last place of employment.Robert is survived by his Father Louis James Jr. his Step mother Maria Elena James, his Half Brother Tarrance L. James and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.Robert was loved and respected by everyone; and will truly be missed by all.
