Robert Oskar Jensen's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Oskar Jensen passed away, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Bob is mourned by his four children, Robert, John, Karen and Kathryn and their families, his brothers Donald and John and their families, and so many more whose lives he touched.
Bob was born to Oskar and Alma Jensen in July 1939. He grew up in Chula Vista, attending Chula Vista High School. Bob received his degree from San Diego State University (SDSU) and became a Certified Public Accountant shortly after graduating. At SDSU, Bob, as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, met the love of his life, Linda Lou, a member of Pi Beta Phi. Bob would probably count his 60+ year marriage to his beloved Linda as his greatest accomplishment. He loved her dearly and missed her even more after her death just four months ago.
Bob is remembered for his commitment to and his support of his kids’, grandkids’ and “adopted” grandkids’ lives. “Mr. J” showed up to his kids’ big events with camera or video camera in hand, always ready to record precious moments. If there was a tee shirt or hat to be had in support of his grandkids’ schooling or sports, Grandpa would wear it proudly and often. And oh, how we wish he could’ve met the newest member of the family, his great granddaughter, who gave him the title Great Grandpa. We know he was looking forward to time with the “little cutie,” as he called her.
There are so many more facets to Bob’s life that could be shared… His time in the National Guard at Fort Ord. His love for his parents and his Danish heritage. His many successful years at Home Federal Savings and Loan. How much he looked forward to hunting and fishing trips with his sons and brothers. His fierce negotiation skills as he helped his young daughters purchase their first cars.
We will miss his French toast, bacon and eggs mornings and taco nights. We will miss him playing Santa at Christmas, trying to decide whose present is whose because Mom forgot to put the tags on. We will miss daily phone calls and watching him play solitaire on his computer. But most of all, we will miss his quiet, steady support of our lives and the lives of those we love.
We will miss him. We love you Dad. We’ll see you again.
