Robert M Martinez's Obituary
Robert Miranda Martinez, Sr. was born in Denver, CO, 1932 within a very large family of hard workers, who followed the work from Denver, CO to San Fernando Valley, CA. At age 17, he asked his mother for permission to enter the Korean War. He was a quiet man; but, very proud of his Country; and yet, always willing to talk about his Lord Jesus. Robert married, Sara Andrade in Yuma, AZ in 1953. Dad worked many labor jobs to support his large family: Linda, Gloria, Robert Jr., Esther and David. He worked more than 30 years for the San Diego Unified School District, where he ended his career as "Head Custodian" for an elementary school where the children loved him as much as he loved them.
At retirement, Dad enjoyed laughing and watching his seven grandchildren: Timothy, Veronica, Jenny, Elizabeth, Matthew, Phillip, and Marcus and five great children: Luis, Gennesis, Darius, Mateo and Milah grow up within the prayers, he believed God for.
He was Father-in-law to two wonderful men whom he admired, Samuel Montes and Brad Pedersen.
Our dad and mom took a trip to the island of Maui for retirement and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Lahaina before the tragic burning of the town. Dad commented how beautiful the island was and it was as close to heaven as he could imagine. Now. he doesn't have to imagine, because now, he is in Paradise.
Robert was a man of great faith, even when, he questioned faith. He stayed faithful.
In end, Dad quoted: Rev. 2:10 "... Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. "
