Robert A. Meeker's Obituary
Robert “Bob/Bobby” Aron Meeker was born September 20th 1954 in National City to parents John and Sylvia Meeker.Bob was the youngest of four children, brother Joseph “Buddy”, sister Arvilla “Arvey”, and brother John “Johnny”.From the start and from the heart Bob had a love and enthusiasm for the outdoors. Camping, fishing, and hunting was more than a passion, it was embroidered in his DNA.Bobby graduated in 1972 from Sweetwater high school where he played football as a defensive left end and met the love of his life Lorinda.In 1976 Bobby and Lorinda were married. Bobby was a hard worker and excellent provider for his family.In April of 1978 Bobby completed his apprenticeship to become a journeyman combination welder. Bob worked in the shipyards where he sustained a severe leg injury in November of 1977. At the same time his son Lance was born premature and his wife Lorinda was hospitalized with toxemia. They were all in the hospital at the same time.From shipyard work Bob moved on to ROHR industries as a welder in the aerospace industry. The family settled in El Cajon. His second son Luke was born in 1981.Bobby was a warm and caring father who loved his sons. He never missed one of Lance’s theatre or choir performances and he made it a point to attend each one of Luke’s sporting events. He’d often play catch with them after a long ten hour day at work.In 1995 Bobby and Lorinda were divorced but they remained close friends throughout Bob’s life. Bob continued to spend his free time fishing and hunting or watching San Diego Charger Football and Padre Baseball.In 2008 Bob retired due to medical problems. He enjoyed cooking in his retirement years and was well known for his pork chops, beef stew, and navy and chili beans. He also held weekly family Bible studies in his home.In 2011 Bob welcomed Luke’s wife Jessika into the family. In 2012 Bob’s prayers were answered with the birth of his granddaughter Braylyn. Bob was blessed to see his granddaughter every day. Bobby was a kind, loving, hardworking, and selfless man who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. Nothing made Bob more joyful then to make the ones he loved happy. Bobby passed along the love of the Lord to his sons and was an example to all who knew him. He will truly be missed. Bob stayed in the San Diego area throughout his lifetime and passed away September 27th 2014. Robert is survived by his brother Buddy, ex-wife Lorinda, sons Lance and Luke, daughter-in-law Jessika, and his granddaughter Braylyn.Oh how blessed is the man That rests in the Savior’s hand. Oh what a great day That to Jesus your life You freely gave. Only believe that the great and mighty King Has all the world’s keys. Oh just to believe That Jesus our Lord is holding all that is wonderful and true. He’s holding life’s keys for each of us, Believe this, it’s true.
