Robert "Gil" Tinaynan Barberan's Obituary
Robert “Gil” Tinaynan Barberan passed away peacefully in his sleep at sea 130 miles North East of Dutch Harbor, Alaska on February 13, 2017. He was born on November 23, 1983, in Baguio City, Philippines. He is the eldest child of the four children of Norberto and Cresencia Tinaynan Barberan. He graduated from Paracelis National High School in Mountain Province, Philippines in 2001. Along with his family, he migrated to the United States in 2003 and worked as a CNA for 10 years. He also worked at Home Depot, 24 Hour Fitness, and American Seafoods Company. In 2009, he earned his AS Degree in Respiratory Therapy at California College of San Diego.Robert found peace and tranquility in nature. He was fond of early-morning hikes on mountain trails, watching the sunset, and walking in the beach. Moreover, he was a dedicated and competitive athlete in marathons and obstacle races. His safe haven was the gym, where he poured most of his energy and emotions in weight lifting. “Fitness and Wellness” was his life motto. He was a sports fanatic and a loyal fan to the San Diego Chargers. Robert was an amazing person. His positive outlook and perseverance inspired many people. He remained strong in all life’s challenges. He is greatly remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to brighten up the day. Best of all, he loved his son, family, relatives, and friends. He always made time for his loved ones and provided encouragement and support to anyone in need. Robert is survived by his parents, Norberto and Cresencia Barberan of El Cajon, CA; son, Gwynne Basilan of Mountain Province, Philippines; brother, Gerald and sister-in-law, Arlene Barberan of Guam; sister, Cheryl and brother-in-law Gary Paringit of Sicily, Italy; brother, Joel Barberan of Fayetteville, NC; and nieces, Germaine, Eleanor and Gabrielle; relatives and friends…Robert,you are dearly loved.There is also a special obituary page at the following web address: http://californiaobits.tributes.com/show/Robert-Gil-Tinaynan-Barberan-104477751
