Robin Vann Dunn's Obituary
Robin (Rob) Van Dunn was born December 9, 1953 in Monroe, Louisiana, to parents Dorothy (Precious) Dunn and Roy Robinson. Robin attended Carver El Carroll Jr. High and Richwood High School, in Monroe, Louisiana. Robin received Christ at a young age and forever loved the Lord and played the piano for Sunday School. Robin was a lover of all music, especially Mahalia Jackson. He also loved gardening and always took pride in his yard. Rob moved to San Diego, CA, from Monroe, LA, in 1972. He retired from Sony Corporation after working for them 25 years, but continued to keep busy by being employed at Target. Rob was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Vickie, for 15 years. He was admired for his devotion to her, and to Pierre, their precious dog. He was always there to support Vickie and showed that love is an action word through his compassion for his wife and family, which reflected his relationship with the Lord. Robin was always family oriented and through him the family stayed connected.Rob’s sense of humor was another wonderful quality he possessed. He would catch you off guard with some surprisingly witty words or another, because he always seemed so quiet. He loved to talk about current events, which he always stayed apprised of, and enjoyed sharing his thoughts with others. He was the epitome of goodness and kindness, and dearly cherished his entire family. On January 28, 2019, Robin was peacefully called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Robinson, and sisters Jeanette (Patsy) Dunn, Terri Lynn Robinson, and nephew Antoine Robinson.Rob leaves many family and friends to treasure their memories of good times with him, especially his loving wife Vanessa (Vickie) Dunn, mother Dorothy Dunn, sister Virgue (Candy) D. Callun, son Trimains D. Collins, godmother Dorothy Jean Jones, father-in-law Albert L. Cherry, Sr., sisters-in-law Patty Allen, Wendy Cherry, and Joanne Derr, brother-in-law Albert L. Cherry, Jr., 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins. And, of course, we can’t forget that he leaves his ever-faithful friend and companion of 13 years, Pierre!
