RODGER MILLS CARRUTH SR's Obituary
Rodger Mills Carruth, 66, was born on November 21, 1958, to Roy Leon Carruth and
late Annette Evelyn Carruth. He departed this life on Monday, February 17, 2025, at
Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista, CA.
He attended Hilltop Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, where he served as an Executive
Assistant Pastor.
Rodger’s hobbies include golfing, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Rodger graduated from West Iredell High School in Statesville, North Carolina in 1978,
after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Air Force Reserve
where he served his country proudly and retired with Military Honors after serving over
22 years. In which he settled in San Diego, CA. He worked for the Department of
Corrections as a Correctional Officer for a total of 20 years and then retired.
Rodger was married to Sonya Annette Carruth, who survives. In addition to his mother,
Annette Carruth, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Carruth and Victor
Lee Carruth.
Rodger leaves to cherish in memory of his life, in addition to his wife, Sonya Carruth of
the home; a son, Rev. Rodger Mills Carruth, Jr. of Bonita, California; a daughter, Naya
Carruth, Bonita, CA. Three brothers, Jeffrey Allen Carruth (Stephanie) of Lake Elsinore,
California and Gerald Carruth Leazer of Statesville; Anthony Cowan, (Angie) from
Woodstock, GA; two sisters, Marilyn Carruth Hall (Fred) of Indian Land, S.C. and Karen
Carruth Cowan (Clyde) of Troutman, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Claude Williams III of
Statesville N.C. One sister-in-law, Patricia Conner (Melvin) of Hickory, N.C.; One
grandchild, Mikayla Carruth, of Bonita, CA, Nephews : Jeffry Carruth, II of Lake
Elsinore, California, Nieces, Niece, Tonja Hall Mays (Scott) of Winston-Salem, NC,
Tiffany Caldwell (Tony) of Mooresville, and Jealah Carruth of Lake Elsinore, California; a
host of cousins , other relatives, Church Family, neighbors and friends.
