Rogelio Gumarang Penetrante's Obituary
ROGELIO GUMARANG PENETRANTE, 79 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the comforts of his own home.
Born on May 10, 1941 in Cagayan, Philippines, he was the youngest of four children of the late Mariano Maramag Penetrante and Juanita Gumarang Penetrante. He attended FEATI University in Manila, Philippines where he finished his Marine Engineering course. After graduation, he began working as a sailor with United Philippine Lines then later on to Philippine Transmarine Carriers operating foreign ships where he worked his way up to being 1st Assistant Marine Engineer. He loved his profession so dearly that after 35 wonderful years journeying around the world and migrating to United States with his family 20 years ago, he continued working as a machinist with Propulsion Controls Engineering for 18 long years serving the Maritime market including United States Naval ships.
He is remembered as a man of few words. He was a humble, dedicated, hard-working person. A devoted husband, father, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know him was to love him.” He was married to Marita Sto. Tomas Penetrante on May 22, 1974 and 4 daughters were born from this union: Bambie, Binky, Bianca, and Bon.
Rogelio or Roger, Iyo, Oggie, Ka Roger or “Hot Rod” as he was fondly called by his colleagues, leaves to cherish his loving memory by his wife and children, 9 grandchildren, 2 brothers and a sister, and all those who knew him.
A memorial service is scheduled on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 4 PM in Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary in San Diego, Ca.
