Ronald Edwin Roth's Obituary
Ronald E. Roth, (81), of San Diego, California, passed away on September 28, 2022, at home while in Hospice care. Ronald, fondly known as Ronnie, Dad, and Papa, was born to Walter G. Roth, Sr. and Peggy (Moore) Roth Andreotti on December 7, 1940, in El Centro, California. Ronnie grew up in Imperial, CA. farming on his family's ranch. He attended Rose School and then Rose Mesquite School, and graduated from Imperial High School in 1958 where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. After graduating high school, he attended Imperial Valley College. He met his wife of sixty years, Judith (Wilson) Roth, and they had two children. He farmed on his family ranch in Imperial and also worked for the Imperial Irrigation District as a Draftsman while living in the Valley. Ron and Judy left the Imperial Valley in 1970 and moved to Mesa, Arizona where he worked for Trico as a Project Manager in the Survey and Drafting Departments. While at Trico, Ronnie worked on many historical projects. The engineering and reconstruction of the London Bridge in Lake Havasu, AZ., as well as the 4th largest fountain in the world in Fountain Hills, AZ. In 1977, Ron and Judy moved their family to San Diego and Ron became a licensed Land Surveyor with the State of California. While working for PRC Toups in La Jolla, Ron met his long-time business partner, Allan Arnson. Ron and Allan started their own land surveying and civil engineering business in 1980 in Mission Valley, Arnson-Roth and Associates, and continued there until retirement. He came out of retirement briefly to work for P&D Technologies and PDC as a Survey Manager.
Ron was a gifted sketch artist and enjoyed this passion for many years, he also enjoyed cruise ship vacations and his travels to Europe, specifically Germany to visit extended family. Dad was an excellent source of family history and loved sharing pictures and stories, and his fondness for his family home in Imperial. He had great respect for his immigrant grandparents, Georg and Katharina (Katie) Roth, who helped raise him. He had a large sense of humor, was an extremely hard worker, and was quite the jokester. He also enjoyed baking, the family could count on his apple pies and triple-decker cakes for the holidays. Ron is survived by his wife, Judy Roth of San Diego, daughter Wendy Doria (Gregg) of Valley Center, son Richard Roth (Charlotte) of San Diego, brother Walter Roth, Jr. (Carolyn) of El Centro, half-siblings John Roth of Kingman, AZ, Susan Blakely (Wes), Donna Osborne (Don) and Dennis Andreotti (Pam) all from El Centro, and Nancy Strahm (Ralph) of Holtville. Granddaughters Brittany Deeb (Rashed) of La Mesa, Kathryn Doria of Encinitas, and Alexis Doria of Valley Center. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that enriched his life tremendously. Services for Ronnie will take place on October 20th at 1:00 pm, in the Mausoleum at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego. Immediately following the service, a gathering will take place in the Garden Chapel.
