Rosa Valencia Genoves' Obituary
Rosa was born in Mexico City to Jose Valencia Jimenez and Juana Zavala Macias. She spent her youth in Mexico City. In 1963 her family came to join other relatives who had established themselves at the border city, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
In 1970 Rosa came to work with a friend at a restaurant in San Diego and, shortly after a few months of working there, met her husband, Jimmie Scott Genoves, who was attending a Naval occupational training at the Navy Training Center in San Diego.
Jimmie and Rosa were married in National City, California in 1971. They raised their five sons, Jesus, Jorge, Pedro, Romel and Jimmie Jr with the help of Rosa’s parents and siblings, crossing both the U.S.A. and Mexico frequently. Those times were happy memorable and culturally rich times spent among the family and relatives of Rosa. Jimmie, an immigrant from the Philippines, found his roots in both the United States and in Mexico!
The couple had moved to various Naval stations, in the States of Virginia, California, Hawaii, Washington, and Texas during Jimmie’s military career. By the Lord’s sovereignty and mercy, it was in San Antonio, Texas where Jimmie and Rosa and their five boys along with their extended families, had found the true meaning of their lives by believing and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as their God and Savior. All had been baptized and are now savoring the sweet everlasting taste of salvation.
