Meeting Rosie in the late 90s when living in Pacific Beach was a pivotal moment for me, the impact of which would last 20 years. It was a small apartment complex and, as fortune would have it, Rosie lived next door. Everyone who lived there grew to know each other well and it evolved into somewhat of a tightly-knit, communal-style community. But Rosie was the only one that I would remain in touch with over the next 20 years. Looking back at that time, it was Rosie's passion for music (specially live music) that was among my first impressions that would help me understand what helped inspire her soul. She always returned from each show with a momento: a drumstick, a set list, whatever she could acquire and then expertly arrange the keepsakes for display which she framed and matted herself. The cost and lack of personal touch to have it done professionally simply wasn?t acceptable; so, she bought the materials and taught herself how to construct these artful displays on her own. She approached everything that way, This spirited young lady was never one to let a beautiful day go to waste, which in San Diego was just about every day. Never prone to lay around on the couch, she?d be off in her late 80s white Jeep Renegade on any number of adventures or quests in the special car she cherished all of her life. Rosie also exhibited an immense loyalty to her family and friends. And though I never heard her say a mean thing about anybody, it was understood she would not tolerate anyone who didn?t have something nice to say about the people she held close; and, she always put their needs ahead of her own. She refused to take the easy path. She worked hard to support herself, and pay for school and eventually earned a degree. Rosie was an inspiration, a trusted friend, and a kind soul. Above all it was her great spirit, passion for music, drive to do her best, tireless instinct to help others, strength of her character, and her commitment to friends and family that she'll not only be most remembered by, but that those close to her and beyond will miss immensely.
