Rose Marie Rowe's Obituary
Rose Marie Rowe was born February 16, 1939 in San Diego, CA to her parents George and Lucille Owens. She graduated from Our Lady of Peace High School.
She met the love of her life Ed Rowe on the steps of Christ the King Catholic Church; which is also where they were married on November 5, 1960. From this union, two sons were born: Ronald and Patrick.
She served faithfully at Christ the King Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister. There, she also taught catechism class. In addition, she often volunteered at charitable events, fed the poor and provided communion to the sick and elderly in their homes.
For over a decade, she partnered with her husband to run a successful catering business. Their events included NAACP breakfasts, San Diego Chargers and SDSU team functions, New Year’s Eve dance parties, banquets, cruises, family reunions and picnics. They also prepared and served free meals to Ronald and Patrick’s Valencia Park Pop Warner football teams, coaches and families for many years.
Her favorite past-times included cooking, baking, shopping and spending time with family; which often included watching sporting events. Because her baking was so exceptional, she gladly accepted her friend’s requests to make cakes and pies for special occasions.
Rose was called home to rest on Thursday October 22, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Lucille Owens; her spouse and soulmate; Ed Rowe; brothers: James and Samuel Owens, and Vernon Van Buren.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sons: Ronald and Patrick Rowe; brother: Dr. Phil Price (Betty); sisters: Mary Owens-Brown and Arlene Rasana (Sipho); sisters-in-law: Rayella Owens and Barbara Rowe; and nephew: Irran Harris; grandson: Ronald Clinton (Laticia); their daughters: Ranicia, Destini, and namesake, Nylah Rose; and a host of relatives and close friends.
