Rose Lee Weekley's Obituary
Rose Lee (McDaniel) Weekley, a devoted mother of nine children, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Weekley, and their daughters Catherine "Cathy" Weekley and Sarah "Sally" Weekley. Rose Lee will be remembered as a cherished wife, mother, and devout Christian woman whose unwavering faith guided her throughout her life.
Rose Lee was the daughter of Charles McDaniel and Dessie Shaffer. She met her future husband, Jack, through his sister Betty while she was enrolled in the RN program. Jack and Rose Lee’s connection blossomed, leading to their marriage and the beginning of a beautiful family.
Rose Lee was a pillar of strength in her family, serving as an exemplary role model to her children. Despite the demands of raising a large family, Rose Lee managed to maintain an impressive level of dedication and care. Her tireless efforts extended to every aspect of their lives, from cooking delicious meals to tending to the garden, managing the laundry, and providing love and support.
Throughout her life, Rose Lee found joy in the simple pleasures that brought her closer to nature. Gardening was not just a hobby for her; it was a passion that allowed her to cultivate beauty and find solace. She enjoyed solving jig-saw puzzles, always seeking new challenges to stimulate her mind. Rose Lee was also an avid bowler, and her team even won a league championship, further showcasing her competitive spirit and love for the game.
Beyond her role as a dedicated wife and mother, Rose Lee touched the lives of many others with her selflessness and caring nature. She had a deep empathy for those in need and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Rose Lee's acts of kindness and compassion exemplified her commitment to the teachings of her faith.
Rose Lee leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children Bruce, John (Rhonda), Barbara Kennard (Ken), Zona, Mary "Elena" Oatey (John), David (Alesandra), and Paul (Tracy), as well as her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members and friends.
A closed funeral service to honor Rose Lee's life will be held at Greenwood Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the San Diego Rescue Mission in honor of Rose Lee's charitable spirit
