Ruth Echague De Castro's Obituary
Ruth Echague De Castro crossed over peacefully on Saturday; August 27th surrounded by her loving family. Everyone who knew Ruth felt her big heart, giving nature, and her love of traveling all over the world. She loved hummingbirds, cooking her famous pancit for the family, and helping everyone she knew and loved with no expectations in return. Ruth was born on May 16, 1926 in Coron, Palawan, Philippines to Raymundo and Aleja Echague. She accompanied her husband Antonio, a US Navy sailor, and her young family to the United States just after WWII. More family members arrived, and they built a life for themselves in San Diego. Ruth lived for more than 60 years until her passing in her beloved San Diego.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Maria De Castro, Susan De Castro-Johnson, and Naomi De Castro-Cretcher; her sons Antonio De Castro and Ray De Castro; her sons-in-law Charlie Price and Jeff Cretcher; her daughters-in-law Beth De Castro and Mercy De Castro; her grandchildren George Jr., Rochelle (Crystal), Antonio James (AJ), Cole, Jake, Clay, Casey, Clint, Solimar, Alberto (Earth) and Aleja; her great-grand child Andre, Nathalie Reign, Geo and her husband Rafael Cabugao and step-son Raymund Cabugao. Ruth’s first husband Antonio De Castro (father of their 6 children) preceded her in death in 1984. Her eldest son George De Castro preceded her in death in 2018 as well as her son in law Daniel Johnson in 2007 (Susan’s husband). Ruth provided unconditional love to all and she will forever be in the hearts to those she touched. May she rest in peace with her late husband Antonio De Castro and son George De Castro.
