Severina Ponce's Obituary
Severina Gonzales Ponce, known lovingly to her family as: Mom, Seve, Belita, Mama Seve, Wita, Welita, Grandma San Diego and Grandma Hola, among others. On the morning of October 17th, 2015, Severina passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s; while being attended by familiar staff members at the Life Center in San Diego, Ca. Severina was 91 years old. Severina was born in Apozol Zacatecas, MX on February 21, 1924. She was the fourth child and the second daughter of Maria del Refujio Aguayo and Gregorio Gonzales. Severina was an inspiration to all who got to know her. She came to the United States in the fifties, with a dream of providing the best opportunity for her growing family. She became a U.S. citizen on June, 21st 1985. She traveled the world from the continental U.S. to Canada, Europe, South America and then some. Severina liked to crotchet and knit. She liked to dance her cumbias and did not like to miss her novelas. She had such a strong faith in the lord that never wavered, and a fierce unconditional love for all her family and friends. Severina was preceded in death by her sons; Martin and Gilberto, her daughters Sofia and Rosa, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as many friends who she loved dearly. Severina is now eternally at rest at the Greenwood Memorial Park. She will be terribly missed but has left lasting memories for all to cherish.
