Shedrick Abercrombie's Obituary
Shedrick “Rick” Rogers Abercrombie, Sr. passed away at the age of 80 in Moreno Valley, California, on May 30, 2024.
Born on January 21, 1944, in Wenatchee, Washington, Shedrick was the only child of the late Dr. Geraldine Martha Jones and Edward Abercrombie. His family relocated to California during his youth, where he later graduated from Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California, in 1962. He later enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country overseas in Japan. From an early age, he developed a deep love for music, which remained a central passion in his life and was a testament to his creative spirit.
After his military service, Shedrick pursued a career as a locksmith. He later founded the California Door Lock Company, in San Diego, California which he owned and operated for many years, earning the respect and gratitude of his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Sabra (nee’ Abercrombie) Delley of Peachtree City, Georgia, Tosha (nee’ Abercrombie) Broadnax of Spring Valley, California, and Essence (nee’ Abercrombie) Valdez of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his sons, Shedrick Rogers Abercrombie, Jr. of Lynwood, California, and Aaron Boyd Abercrombie of Claremont, North Carolina. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. Forever the bachelor, Shedrick never married. Shedrick's life journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, will be remembered and cherished by those who loved him. His contributions to his profession and his musical talents left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
