Shirley Anne Taylor's Obituary
SHIRLEY ANNE (NORTH) TAYLORShirley Anne (North) Taylor, 82, passed away March 12, 2015, in San Diego, California. Born in Xenia, Ohio, on November 20, 1932 to William and Virginia North. The North family moved to San Diego in 1944 and were charter members of Christ Lutheran Church in Pacific Beach. She and her sister Nancy were the first confirmands at Christ Lutheran in 1947. Shirley was a proud graduate of La Jolla High in 1950. Through her marriages to the late Cdr. Hector S. McDaniel, USN, and the late Hugh W. Taylor, an AFL football coach, she led a life rich in experiences, ranging from Navy social circles to cheering on her favorite football teams from the stands. In the early sixties she worked for Astronautics in Kearny Mesa. Later she became a buyer for Johnson Staley, a supply company in San Diego. In the early eighties she was the beloved bookkeeper for The Hungry Hunter Restaurant in El Cajon. Her most fulfilling role was as a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, decorator and enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. She was an avid card player from a very young age and remained active in multiple bridge groups until early 2015. She was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Osborne of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her daughters Dana (Herb) Downing of Westville, Oklahoma, Leslie McDaniel of El Cajon, California, Suzanne (Bob) Hirko of El Cajon, California, Louise Roitz of Little Rock, Arkansas, sister Suzanne (Ted) Goodrich of Menifee, California, brother Guyton North of El Cajon, California, brother-in-law Dale Osborne of Salt Lake City, Utah, three grandchildren, Stephanie Carlson of Alpine, California, Landon Downing of Westville, Oklahoma, Carly Roitz of Little Rock, Arkanasa, nephew Scott Goodrich and niece Megan Goodrich of San Diego, California. Outdoor service will be held March 27, 2015 at 11am at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego, 92113. Family encourages bright and cheerful attire as that’s how our Shirley would want it. Forever Loved, Forever Missed.
