Shizuka Young's Obituary
Shizuka Young was born to Takaichi and Mon Matsumoto of Japan on January 1, 1931 in Fukuoka Japan. She lived in Japan until she was 25 years old.She married W.D. Young on May 12, 1953, and the family arrived in Concord California Port Chicago in 1956. Upon her arrival in the United States in 1956 she began drawing maps for the United States Navy.After retiring from her job working with the Navy, she spent the rest of her life here in San Diego raising her family and volunteering. She enjoyed painting and growing orchids at Rex Foster Orchids in Lemon Grove, CA. She listened to R&B music and Jackie Wilson. Shizuka was a quiet, faithful, loyal, giving and very loved woman.Shizuka was involved in Reiyukai and will be missed by all of the members as well as her special friends John, Billy, Joyce and Denton.She is survived by her two children Marry and Worchester Young and their families. They will miss her. Some of the important events in her life were gaining citizenship; her son’s commission into the US Navy; and the birth of her grandson Anthony Ken.The family will have a private graveside service.
