Sidney Dorfman's Obituary
Sidney Dorfman lived a full life for 96 years and passed on April 11, 2018 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lita, of 66 years of marriage. He was a 20 year career Navy man who served in WWII on submarines. Following the Navy, he worked at Sharp Memorial Hospital but left there to work for 20 years at the UC San Diego campus including Scripps Institute of Oceanography. He was a resident in Bay Park on Cowley Way for 60 years and beloved by his neighbors and their dogs. He enjoyed handyman work including carpentry, plumbing & electrical jobs. He enjoyed telling “stories” especially from his past experiences. He is survived by his only daughter, Sharon Lee Cowley, son-in-law, Mike, 4 grandchildren, David Cowley, Tim Cowley, Ben Cowley, Rebecca Maguire and 4 great-grandchildren, Mahana, Kai, Nathan and Birdie.Funeral services are May 10, 2018 at Noon at St John the Evangelist, 1001 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA Private internment for family will be at Miramar National Cemetery.
