Dear Mendez Family, I am sorry to hear about your loss. Sokie was an important part of our family while growing up, so was Frankie. When those two came around to our family gatherings, always knew the day or evening would be exciting and colorful. I'm very glad to have shared some of my life as a child with them, and their kids. Sing loud and clear to all your friends and family in heaven Sokie! Paula Hagemeyer, Barbara and Rudy Lozano's daughter
Dear Frances, Sally Jo, Papi, and Baby, April 4, 2017 Please know that your mom was loved by many and truly appreciated by many more folks. At this difficult time, I hope you may gain a measure of solace by knowing that we will all carry her memory with us our whole lives. In fact, in my life her spirit remains strong and present as she continues to guide and comfort me. I often revisit my childhood memories of times spent with her and always come away feeling better. Her positive outlook, beautiful singing, and laughing smile made every occasion special. With love, hope and prayer. Your cousin, Maria Esther Mendez Maness (AKA Neto) and family.
Sunday, April 2, 2017 Milton, New Hampshire Dear fabulous, fantastic, and fun Aunt Sokie, What a wonderful, rich and fulfilling life you have had. I am grateful to have had the honor and privilege to share many family moments with you, Uncle Frank, Auntie Rachel, and all of your children. My favorite childhood memories come from the 1950s and 1960s when my parents Simon and Esther would take us to visit you and your family. I can still visualize with all of my senses the warmth, aromas, and sounds of your lovely home. You were always gracious, generous, and made us feel completely welcomed. One activity I relished was when you would sit down to play your upright piano and sing. To this day this memory keeps me humming and singing "He's got the whole world in his hand…." Our camping trips to Baja also created treasured family moments for me. Aunt Sokie you were a strikingly beautiful, strong woman who I have tried to emulate in my own life's journey. Thank you for the example and high standards you set for us to follow. Thank you also for singing "Sabor A Mi" at my wedding, forever making that a very special and meaningful song for me. I miss hearing your boisterous laughter and seeing your bright smile. Please know the memories of you continue to guide, comfort, and give me strength to face my future. I love you Aunt Sokie. Your niece, Neto.
