Sonia Romero (Felipa) 1966 – 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sonia Romero, also known by her birth name, Felipa. She departed this life on February 2nd, 2025, just three days shy of her 59th birthday, at home surrounded by her beloved husband, children, mother, and siblings.
Sonia was born in Milpas Viejas, Nayarit, and spent her early years in Mexicali, Baja California, where she was raised by her mother, Maria Licha, her adopted father, Agapo, and her six siblings. At the age of 22, she embarked on a new journey, migrating to San Diego, California, where she worked as a devoted nanny for the Glaser family, who loved her as their own.
In 1990, Sonia met the love of her life, Antonio. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their two cherished children, Israel and Eden. Sonia was a beacon of positivity, radiating loving energy and unwavering faith. Family was her greatest joy, and her love for her native Nayarit remained strong throughout her life.
At the age of 34, Sonia was diagnosed with breast cancer, but with incredible strength and determination, she fought and went into remission, fueled by her deepest wish—to see her children grow. Then again, in 2010, Sonia was diagnosed with more cancerous growth and again fought until remission. Finally, in 2018, she was diagnosed with distant metastasis. She battled this disease with grace and resilience until the day of her passing, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, resilience, and faith in Our Father God.
She will be celebrated and laid to rest at Greenwood Mortuary on February 22nd, 2025.
"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." — Revelation 21:3-4
Sonia's love and light will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Con profundo pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Sonia Romero, también conocida por su nombre de nacimiento, Felipa. Partió de este mundo el 2 de febrero de 2025, tres días antes de cumplir 59 años, en su hogar, rodeada del amor de su esposo, hijos, madre y hermanos.
Sonia nació en Milpas Viejas, Nayarit, y pasó su infancia en Mexicali, Baja California, donde fue criada por su madre, Maria Licha, su padre adoptivo, Agapo, y sus seis hermanos. A los 22 años, emprendió un nuevo camino y emigró a San Diego, California, donde trabajó con dedicación como niñera para la familia Glaser quienes la amaron como familia.
En 1990, Sonia conoció al amor de su vida, Antonio. Juntos construyeron una hermosa familia y criaron con amor a sus dos hijos, Israel y Eden. Sonia siempre fue un faro de positividad, irradiando energía amorosa y una fe inquebrantable. Su familia fue su mayor alegría, y su amor por su tierra natal, Nayarit, perduró a lo largo de su vida.
A los 34 años, a Sonia le diagnosticaron cáncer de mama, pero con una fortaleza increíble y determinación, luchó y logró la remisión, impulsada por su deseo más profundo: ver crecer a sus hijos. Por otra parte, en 2010, a Sonia le diagnosticaron más crecimiento canceroso y nuevamente luchó hasta la remisión. Finalmente, en 2018 le diagnosticaron metástasis a distancia. Luchó contra esta enfermedad con gracia y resiliencia hasta el día de su fallecimiento, dejando atrás un legado perdurable de amor, resiliencia y fe en Padre Dios.
Su vida será celebrada y honrada en Greenwood Mortuary el 22 de febrero de 2025.
