I knew Steve ever since junior high school and high school. We played lots of touch football and basketball with Don Houde, Jack Linder and Bob Dougherty. What I liked most about Steve was how he treated people well. He had a great sense of humor. I remember once at Marston Junior High, we had just got out of PE and we were all waiting for the bell to ring to get to our next class. Steve gets this grin on his face and yelled at the top of his voice, "Give me an F"..... Give me a U". There must have been at least 50 people yelling with him. Meanwhile, the PE coaches were all laughing. To this day, I still remember it more than 50 years later. Rest in Peace Steve. All of us who knew you, miss you greatly.

I am so sad to learn of Steve's passing. He was my Sadie Hawkins Day dance date, the only school dance I ever went to. We shared a love of drama at CHS. I love th picture of him in the annual in the South Pacific musical. I have only the best of memories of Steve.

Steve was always kind and easy to work with. We worked together for many years on Camp Pendleton. He always showed his concern and support for our military and their families. If there was a way to do the job, he found a way to get it done. My husband and I respected him and will certainly miss him. Praying for strength for his family now and in the future.

Steve was one of my favorite people in high school. He was smart, funny, talented, and kind. I was lucky to share many fun moments with him, particularly in theatre classes and school plays. Two memories continue to stick with me and make me smile: Our ninth grade English teacher asked us to read "The Valiant" opposite each other in class. It was a sad, sobering one-act play. My character thought that Steve's character, a condemned man, might be her long-lost brother. At the end, many of our classmates, and the teacher, were in tears. It was strong affirmation for two aspiring actors! The other memory is the time he was complaining to me that he didn't think he would be in "South Pacific" our junior year, because he couldn't sing. I knew he could carry a tune, because Bob Dougherty, Steve and I made up and sang silly songs together while driving to the Old Globe to usher. I told him that I thought he would make a great Luther Billis. It was a character role that didn't need a beautiful voice--just needed to carry the tune. I helped him find an audition song, coached him a little, and he got the part and played it beautifully! I think that experience expanded his ideas about what he could do, and helped set me on the path of music education. He was surprised at his success. I wasn't. My thoughts and prayers are for peace and comfort for all his friends and family at the passing of this lovely person.

I was lucky to meet Steve upon my return to San Diego in 1967 as an 8th grader at Marston Junior High. He was smarter, more articulate, taller, and more handsome than I was. Ha! So, I began my long journey of literally looking up to him for many, many years. We shared wonderful moments in theatre productions, in school politics, playing pool, in neighborhood water balloon fights, and a lifelong connection through Steve and Kathy's friendship with my mother, Jeanne.

Steve (and Kathy) were supportive and instrumental in helping Lena and our daughter Olivia feel emotionally and physically connected to San Diego. And they both did some extremely heavy lifting during my mom's illness.

We've been doing a lot of crying over here in Stockholm. And holding him in high regard, in our hearts and minds. We send love to Kathy, Marni, and Jesse, as well.

Steve had such a good sense of humor. Good laugh too. I remember when Kathy met Steve in college Drama class. I always thought he was a good pick for Kathy. I remember Steve's mom. She was such a joy as well. So sad to hear of Steve's passing.
