Susan Allen's Obituary
Susan Allen was born March 8, 1950, in San Diego, CA. Susan was born the 10th child of 11 children, to the parents of Stephen Frone Allen and Ethelena Allen. Susan was called the knee baby of the family, but she was more like the baby because she cried more for the bottle than the baby (Ethel) did. Susan attended Logan Elementary, continued onto Memorial Junior High School and lastly graduated from San Diego High School in 1969. She completed coursework at American Business College (Trade school) and received a secretarial certificate of completion in 1972. She attended and took business courses at San Diego City College. Susan finished out her professional career with the County of San Diego, working for over 20 years, retiring 01/04/2011. Susan was a very hard worker who loved her job, cared for her coworkers, and enjoyed working with them. She was respected by her peers, an advocate for her fellow coworkers making sure their county employment rights were not violated and a very active union Stewart with SEIU Local 221. She spent countless time working with her peers if there ever was an issue, would be a voice for them and would also be active rolls in the union outside of work - attending rallies, meetings, going door to door to inform fellow coworkers about the union/issues arising/voting in upcoming contracts, working after hours in contract negotiations and working with fellow union representatives from other county departments to fight for fair county contracts, when county contracts would end.
Susan gave birth to two lovely girls, Raychelle Lee (1978) and Melissa Quarles (1982). She joined and accepted Christ at an early age at Mt Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev CL Johnson, and as a young adult she joined Greater Life Baptist Church in 1973 under the leadership of Rev. Willie Manley Sr; continued under his son Pastor Cedric Manley, and later as a charter member under Pastor Nate Steward.
Susan loved to dance, go to the movies, go shopping, watch TV, go to theme parks, take drives around San Diego or up/down the coast and spend time with her children,
grandchildren, and family. Yes, she even liked going to the casinos – Ching! Ching! Most of all, Susan loved the Lord and loved life. She always wore her pin “God is Good, All the Time”.
